Manta, August 17, 2018.

In order to identify older adults who are in extreme vulnerability and establish their needs, in Manta, Montecristi and Jaramijó, home visits are made by technicians from the Ministry of Economic and Social Inclusion (MIES) who work with the Mission “My Best Years”. This is an emblematic strategy of the Government at the national level.

In the Leonidas Proaño de Montecristi parish, for example, it was possible to focus on the case of Elena Zambrano, a senior citizen, who currently receives the pension My Best Years, which consists of a monetary transfer of 100 dollars; as well as receiving attention from MIES services to promote active and positive aging.

In addition, with the idea of improving the quality of life of people over 65 years of age living in extreme poverty, they will access intersectoral services of economic, social, educational, health, and justice inclusion, among others, said Elizabeth Chacón, Director District of the MIES Manta.

My Best Years” Mission, the MIES Manta District, which also includes the Montecristi and Jaramijó cantons, will have coverage of 75 senior citizens in active spaces, 30 in the home care modality and will also favor 70 older adults in Day Care .
